OWENSBORO HYDROFAIR PRESENTED BY JAGOE HOMES

COMING IN 2020

The City of Owensboro is proud to announce the Owensboro HydroFair presented by Jagoe Homes, a new hydroplane racing event, is coming to the downtown riverfront the weekend of August 15-16, 2020.

“We are excited to bring this event to the Owensboro riverfront,” said Public Events Director Tim Ross. “Owensboro has a rich history of hydroplane racing, dating back to the 1960s.  It will be thrilling for fans from throughout the region to return to the riverfront to see and hear the incredible action from these state-of-the-art boats as they race on Saturday and Sunday at straightaway speeds of up to 170 mph.”

The City of Owensboro is partnering with American Hydroplane Events, LLC to produce the races. Race Director Randy Lientz said, “To have Jagoe Homes as the Presenting Sponsor is really significant.  We have one of Owensboro’s leading companies stepping forward to support the 2020 Owensboro HydroFair at its inception.  There are various levels of sponsorships available, so any business can get involved.”

The 2020 event will consist of two days of racing with more than 50 teams in 7 different inboard hydroplane classes.  Boats will be on the water practicing from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm CDT on Friday, August 14.  The racing action will begin at 10:00 am on Saturday, August 15 and Sunday, August 16, with the final races concluding at 5:00 pm both days.

Owensboro HydroFair is a free community event.  Viewing areas will be available on the downtown riverfront throughout Smothers Park.  For the more serious hydroplane racing fans, English Park will be a ticketed area for fans to get a behind-the-scenes look of the action in the race teams’ pit area. Reserved seating along the front straightaway adjacent to the start/finish line at the Owensboro Convention Center will also be available for purchase.

Along with the races, the event will also include the annual Bridge Run 5K/10K and Bridge Day for people to enjoy the views of the Owensboro riverfront from the Glover Cary Bridge on Saturday morning, August 15.

More details and information will be released in the coming months at www.owensborohydrofair.com.
