City of Owensboro Announces Return of Live on the Banks Music Series at Smothers Park

The City of Owensboro is excited to announce the return of Live on the Banks to Smothers Park in downtown Owensboro. This free outdoor concert series showcases a variety of music groups from across the region to the Ohio riverfront for the community to enjoy every Saturday night from July 11 through October 31, 2020.

The series, which typically runs from May through September, has been delayed due to COVID-19 social gathering restrictions. This year, it will run through the end of October in order to accommodate the numerous musical artists who have committed to performing, and to provide the community with even more outdoor entertainment.

“We are excited to be able to kick off another season of Live on the Banks,” said Tim Ross, Director of Public Events. “Although it’s getting a later start, we are happy that the community will have the opportunity to enjoy music along the riverfront this summer and fall. We do ask everyone to help us make the season a success by maintaining the proper social distance and staying home if you are not feeling well.”

Organizers are asking visitors to please follow CDC and state social distancing guidelines. Face masks are encouraged and it is asked that attendees please keep at least six feet between others enjoying the music.

Live on the Banks will take place at the River Overlook Stage, as well as the Allen Street Gazebo, in Smothers Park Saturdays from 7-9pm. A lineup of the bands performing each week can be found at www.liveonthebanks.com, and on the Live on the Banks Facebook page.
