The Owensboro Sanitation Department provides  LIMB SEASON- WILL RESUME MID-FEBRUARY (TBA)

The systematic ,street by street limb collection, where we will be collecting organized limb piles is currently suspended during our leaf season.

Bagged and canned yard waste will still be collected each week on your trash day!  Please place at least 2 feet away from your solid waste containers and visible at the curb.

You may haul limbs to the Daviess County Transfer Station year round using a copy of your Sanitation bill, for free disposal.

Loose leaf collection is not the only option during the winter months.  You also have the choice to bag them for trash day, haul to DC Transfer, or utilize the orange dumpsters located at the Owensboro Sportcenter on the North side of the property.

The third pass through all leaf zones was completed today. Loose leaf collection will now be collected on a call in basis.  To get leaves collected please call (270) 687-8760 or the City Action Line (270) 687-4444.

Leaf collection has now begun!  Loose leaves may be raked curbside for systematic vacuum collection.  Please keep all leaves behind the curb to ensure storm drains may remain clear of debris.  Do not cover water meter lids, as our machines will remove them.  Please leave plenty of clearance around your piles and do not block with any parked vehicles.  Piles must be accessible to our drivers upon arrival, as we will not be able to return once your zone has been run.  For any questions, please feel free to call the Sanitation Dept. at 270-687-8760.  If you are unsure of your leaf zone, please visit the main page at Owensboro.org and use the interactive map.  Entering your home address will identify your leaf zone and other collection information pertaining to your home.

Guide to Quality Service

  • Be ready on collection day. Once crews pass through your area, they cannot return for late collections. Return collections are expensive in fuel, labor and maintenance costs.
  • Place leaves curbside, in your yard waste can or bag, not on sidewalk or in the street
  • Do not place limbs over sidewalks  or other obstructions.
  • Do not mix limbs with other debris or trash.
  • Do not block limb piles with vehicles.
