March for Babies is one of America's favorite walking events. When you walk in March for Babies, you give hope to nearly half a million babies born too soon each year. The money raised through the fundraising walk event supports programs in your community that help moms have healthy, full-term pregnancies and it funds research to find answers to the problems that threaten our babies. We've been walking since 1970 and have raised an incredible $2.3 billion to benefit all babies. This year, we hope to have over 500 local residents join their family, friends and colleagues March for Babies on Saturday, April 29th! The event promises to be a fun day out with people who share our passion for improving the health of babies. The event will include a free lunch, activities for the kids including bounce house, special character appearances, music by Disc Daddy's and much, much more! Join our event and walk with us to raise money for babies' right here in our community! Daviess County March for Babies 2017 will take place downtown in Owensboro, KY! The opening ceremonies will start near the River Overlook/Fountain Area at Smothers Park. We hope you will join us as we walk together for stronger, healthier babies!

  • Arbor Day Planting Event

    Saturday April 29, 2017

    Location: Greenbelt

Trees are a vital tool in stormwater runoff reduction, and are often overlooked
in urban settings. The City of Owensboro as part of our Municipal Stormwater
Permit are excited to be partnering with the Ursuline Sisters of Mount Saint
Joseph to offer a tree sapling planting event. The City will be planting 350-400
saplings just North of the Greenbelt and the future dog park. These saplings will
be planted along the existing tree line along Horse Fork Creek, one of our major
creeks that runs in Owensboro. Citizens will be able to come out, learn about the
importance of trees, and plant saplings in this area. Additionally, any citizen
volunteer will be given a free sapling to take home and plant. City grounds
department and Engineering will be there throughout the event to help with the
    plantings.
