CITIZEN ADVISORY COMMITTEE PUBLIC HEARING – FEBRUARY 25, 2019

 

 

It is time to begin the application process for the 2019-2020 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and HOME Programs. The process requires that an Annual Action Plan for the Consolidated Plan be prepared each year.  Prior to the release of the Annual Action Plan, the City must hold a public hearing to solicit proposals from the public. 

 

Once drafts have been prepared and disseminated, another public hearing must be held to solicit comments about the document (the second public hearing is scheduled for Monday, April 8, 2019 at 5:30 pm).  A mandatory 30-day comment period is required once a summary of the plan has been published and copies disseminated at the public library and City Hall.  After these tasks are completed the documents are forwarded to the City Commission for their consideration and must be submitted to HUD 45 days prior to the beginning of the City's program year.  For us this means that all required actions must be completed by May 7, 2019.  In order to meet this schedule the first public hearing has been scheduled for Monday, February 25, 2019 at 5:30 P.M.  in the City Commission chambers on the fourth floor of City Hall.

 

The purpose of the hearing will be to provide a report on the current year's Community Development and Housing programs, give citizens an opportunity to submit their views on Community Development and voice their opinions or concerns housing needs and opportunities.  Enclosed is an agenda for this meeting.  Should you have any questions prior to the scheduled hearing, just give me call at (270) 687-8658 or email me at sheltonam@owensboro.org.
