Commissioner John Kazlauskas

John Kazlauskas is serving his first term as Commissioner and brings with him a wealth of knowledge. After serving 42 years with the Owensboro Police Department, Chief Kazlauskas retired in 2007. He was instrumental in the development of the Polygraph Unit and the Evidence Collection Unit, which is now called the Special Services Bureau.
After graduating from Owensboro High School, John served three years in the U.S. Army, as a helicopter pilot. He then attended the FBI National Academy & FBI Bombing Crime Scene School in Quantico, VA and went on to graduate from Eastern Kentucky University with an Associates Degree in Criminal Justice.
He currently serves on the Healthy Horizons Board and is a member of the Owensboro Rotary Club. He is a past member of the following: KWC Advisory Board for School of Criminal Justice, Ayer Flying Club (President), Fundraising Committee for YMCA and Boy Scouts, Fraternal Order of Police, International Association of Identification, Ohio Chapter of Kentucky Council on Crime and Delinquency (President), and was a Lector at KWC and Brescia University. He is an Honorary Member of the Kentucky Polygraph Association.
