VETERANS DAY
PARADE AND CITY FIREWORKS THIS WEEKEND

Join
the Owensboro Daviess County Veterans Committee and the City of Owensboro for
the 2013 Veterans Day Parade on Saturday, November 9, 2013.  The City of
Owensboro is thrilled to be a part of the activities to help build on the
success of this annual event to recognize and honor our local veterans.

As
part of this year’s celebrations, we will honor our Korean War Veterans on the
60th anniversary of the conflict.  The City invites all Korean
War Veterans to join the parade as honorary grand marshals in this year’s
parade and attend a special dinner following the parade.  Please contact
Natalie Cecil at (270) 687-8702 or cecilna@owensboro.org
to register for the event.

This
year’s parade will begin at 3:45 p.m. at Second Street and Crittenden Street.
The parade route will travel west on Second Street, north on Daviess Street,
and west on Veterans Boulevard ending at Frederica Street.

Following
the parade, Smothers Park will be filled with live music leading up to a
fireworks display at 5:30 p.m. over the Ohio River.  The public is invited to come support our
veterans and enjoy a great evening of fireworks.
