Edge Ice Center offering New weSKATE Learn-to-Skate Classes
What do Dorothy Hamill, Kristi Yamaguchi, Scott Hamilton, Michelle Kwan, and Sasha Cohen all have in common? These world champion ice skaters all started skating in the original ISI Recreational Learn-to-Skate Program, now known as weSKATE.
The City of Owensboro’s Edge Ice Center is accepting registrations for its weSKATE Program. The weSKATE program follows the lesson format created by the Ice Skating Institute of America (ISI), the nation’s largest recreational ice skating organization. A new Learn to Skate Hockey is also offered as part of the weSKATE program.
Classes are available for all ages and abilities, from tots to Adults and are held once a week on Tuesday afternoons. The Learn to Skate Hockey class will take place on Wednesday afternoons. Class times are available at www.owensboroparks.org.
Classes will meet October 15 through November 19. The registration deadline is October 11.
Class fees are $35 per person, and include one hour of ice time per week for 6 weeks (30 minutes of instruction plus 30 minutes of practice ice), skate rental, and a one month FREE year membership to ISI and monthly ISI magazine.
Register through the Owensboro Parks and Recreation Administrative Center at 687-8700, in person at the Edge Ice Center, or by calling the Edge Ice Center at 687-8720 during business hours Tuesday through Friday, noon to 5 p.m.
