What is CityACTION?
CityACTION is the customer service center for the city government of Owensboro. By dialing 687-4444, you can ask a question, register a complaint, offer a suggestion, or obtain information about city services or neighborhood concerns. A trained service representative will answer your call Monday through Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. After hours, you can leave a message on our voice mail.
What can I report to CityACTION?
Any question or concern regarding the City of Owensboro or its services such as trash collection, street maintenance, traffic signals, signs, street lights, permits, defective sidewalks, debris and weeds, maintenance in city parks, etc. can be reported to CityACTION.
CityACTION also has access to information on community events and attractions, social services, city policies, other government agencies, and much more. They can answer questions on what to recycle, how a holiday changes your trash collection, who is responsible for trees throughout the city, and hundreds of other things that affect our daily lives.
What information should I have ready before I call?
Be ready to give the exact address or location of the problem you are reporting and a complete description of what is wrong. Remember… the service representative you call has not seen the problem you are reporting and will probably ask you some questions to fully understand the situation.
Why not call a city department directly?
By dialing CityACTION, you don’t have to guess which city department can handle your problem or answer your question. If you have a request to register, it will be entered in our specially designed computer system and forwarded to the responsible department where a work order is produced and an investigation is made.
What if I need information after regular business hours?
If you need information about city services outside regular business hours, call CityACTION’s automated information line at 687-INFO. You will be able to listen to recorded information on hundreds of different topics by using your touch-tone phone.
If the recorded information does not answer your specific question, you can still call CityACTION at 687-4444 after hours. Leave a message on our voice mail, and a service representative will call you back the next workday.
