    September 1, 2020 - 5:00 P.M.

     

           

          NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Owensboro Board of Commissioners will hold a Special Called Meeting at 5:00 p.m., on Tuesday, September 1, 2020, in the Commission Chambers located on the fourth floor at City Hall, 101 E. 4th Street.

     

          The purpose of the Special Called Meeting is to consider approval of minutes, board and personnel appointments, Ordinances, Municipal Orders, and Financial Report; first reading of Ordinances; hear comments from City Manager and Elected Officials and enter into a Closed Session under KRS 61.810(1)(g) to discuss a specific proposal with representatives of a business entity. The agenda is attached and posted at www.owensboro.org.

     

    Due to social distancing guidelines related to COVID-19 public attendance will not be permitted at the meeting. No primary location will be set for public attendance as per Kentucky OAG 20-05.     Friday After 5 is a summer-long series of free outdoor concerts held every Friday on the eight block, stunningly beautiful Owensboro, Kentucky riverfront.

    Friday After 5 began in 1996 with four concerts and grew into a 16-week signature festival for the entire tri-state area hosting more than 50,000 visitors each season on the riverfront every Friday After 5. It’s Where the Weekend Begins!

    Fun. Friends. Free.

    Friday After 5 was again named one of the “Top Ten Summer Festivals” in Kentucky and just won the prestigious Reader’s Choice Platinum Award for “Best Community Event” of the year.  The festival includes live bands, family events, food and entertainment and our “Toast to the Sunset” at each Friday After 5.

    Location:  From RiverPark Center through Smothers Park  to the Owensboro Convention Center downtown on the Owensboro Riverfront on the Ohio River.

    Hours: 5pm until 10pm each Friday.  Party Pier is open from 5pm until 11pm.

    Our walk begins at Our Lady of Lourdes at 10 am and our group will walk down
    Frederica Street North towards The Plaza. We take a short break and then head
    back down Frederica Street to Our lady of Lourdes. Usually one lane of traffic is
    closed only.

    Owensboro HydroFair returns to Owensboro on Friday, September 11, 2020 thru Sunday, September 13, 2020

    This exciting event will start on Friday, September 11, with hydroplane testing from 1 pm-5 pm.  The qualifying races will be 10 am- 4 pm on Saturday, September 12 and Sunday, September 13 from 10 am-12 pm.  Championship Races will begin Sunday at 1 pm till 4 pm, it’s going to a thrilling event with great hydroplane racing!

    Hydrofair will consist of about 50- hydroplanes separated into seven classes.  Speeds will range from 110 to more than 170 miles per hours.  The race course will be an oval-shaped loop between the Blue Bridge and English Park, a track of 1.25 miles, and drivers will cycle the track four times.

    Attendees will have free seating planned throughout Smothers Park and along the downtown riverfront.  Reserved seating will be available to purchase at the start/finish line near the Owensboro Convention Center.
