    Owensboro Family YMCA is proud to host the BAR-B-Q 5K sponsored by German American Bank on May 8, 2021, downtown Owensboro.

    This race is in conjunction with the 2021 BAR-B-Q Block Party and the community is invited to run or walk with us; to keep crowd sizes to a minimum we will be offering an 8 a.m. start time for competitive racers and a 9 a.m. start geared for non-competitive racers and families.

    T-shirts (on registrations received by April 19th) and official medals will be given to all participants.

The Bar-B-Q Block Party was born from the idea that good old-fashioned Owensboro barbecue should still be enjoyed even in these trying times. While the Bar-B-Q Block Party will be a scaled-down event, it will include some traditional Bar-B-Q Festival elements, such as the Backyard Cooking Competition presented by Kentucky Legend, in addition to barbecue from several of the local churches that traditionally participate in the festival.

    Friday After 5 is a summer-long series of free outdoor concerts held every Friday on the eight block, stunningly beautiful Owensboro, Kentucky riverfront.

    Friday After 5 began in 1996 with four concerts and grew into a 16-week signature festival for the entire tri-state area hosting more than 50,000 visitors each season on the riverfront every Friday After 5. It’s Where the Weekend Begins!

    Friday After 5 was again named one of the “Top Ten Summer Festivals” in Kentucky and just won the prestigious Reader’s Choice Platinum Award for “Best Community Event” of the year.  The festival includes live bands, family events, food and entertainment and our “Toast to the Sunset” at each Friday After 5.

    Location:  From RiverPark Center through Smothers Park  to the Owensboro Convention Center downtown on the Owensboro Riverfront on the Ohio River.

    Hours: 5pm until 10pm each Friday.  Party Pier is open from 5pm until 11pm.
