The Plunge is one of the biggest Special Olympics fundraisers of the year. The Plunge is a truly unique event and includes a fun, festive atmosphere with food and great prizes. The Plunge works just like a Walk-a-Thon, but with one big twist. Participants still solicit donations to support their effort (a BARE minimum of $75 to take part or $50 for Junior Plungers), but instead of walking, Polar Bears take a chilly dip into a pool set up in McConnell Plaza in Downtown Owensboro.

Last year, the Polar Plunge raised nearly $30,000 to support the efforts of Special Olympics athletes.

This year, in addition to moving to a new location, Polar Plunge festivities include the inaugural Donut Dash 5k, a fun run/walk through Downtown Owensboro where participants gobble donuts as part of their run.

Pick the Plunge or the Donut Dash, or do them both for double the fun!

weSKATE ISI Recreational Learn-to-Skate Program

February 24-April 1

Fee: $35

The objectives of the program are:

• Encourage individuals to skate for FUN!
• To teach correct technique of the basic elements.
• To promote health and physical fitness.
• To enable all participants to achieve the skills necessary to either skate for fun the rest of their lives or to provide opportunities to compete in various skating competitions.
• Learn to Skate…Hockey; Wednesdays only.
